Oberon, 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon
Napa Valley, CA
Retail Cost: $22
My Tasting Notes: This is smooth, easy to drink and compliments most any cuisine. I would recommend it for a “special” celebration, gift or the occasional solo night with you and the bottle. This is simply a treat and worth trying to hunt down. The story goes: My friend tried it at a random restaurant in Atlanta; I tried it with her on the beach in Oregon. I also gave it as a wedding gift to my dear friends, who then opened it with me for Thanksgiving dinner. It’s hard to find but it's carried by several distributors--- use this site to search your area www.foliowine.com/finder/foliofinder.php. If you ask your local LQ retail shop if the distributor carries it, they will order it for you.
Stock up on Napa Valley wines, 2010 crop year was crushed by a cold summer and the later vintages will be hot this year!
Zenato, Valpolicella Classico Superiore
Sant’ Ambrogio, Italy
Retail Cost: $14ish (I’ve gotten it for $11)
My Tasting Notes: Think of classic Italian wine, crisp and dry--- like Chianti. I’ve never heard of this blend--- 85% Corvina; 10% Rondinella and 5% Sangiovese. I would recommend it with simple food such as grilled veggies or classic, light pasta dishes. Enjoy the flavor, and try not to cover it up with heavy food. I believe this is fairly easy to find, I bought it at my local market. The story goes: Someone shared it with me, and I brought it to dinner with a real Italian family..yeah you heard it… a real one. And they liked it. The End.
Stock up; this is an everyday drinkin’ kinda wine!!
Got any wines you like? Can you relate to an excessive amount of wine to choose from?
